Dermal fillers injections are commonly used for volume replacement lost with age. As we age our face loses volume and hollows in certain areas such a cheeks, nose-mouth lines, chin, jawline and often at the sides of our mouths. Filler can be used as a non surgical option that can last 12-15months. I use dermal fillers made of Hyaluronic acid which is a natural component of our skin that our body produces naturally, it works by drawing water into our skin and helps it stay plump and hydrated, as we age our bodies produce less and less of this. Thus requiring the need for dermal filler. All dermal fillers contain an aesthetic numbing agent which makes treatment a lot more comfortable.

Side effects of dermal fillers:

Risks of side effects depends on the area treated and this will be discussed at consultation. Bruising and swelling on the injection point is the most common, and arnica cream can be used to reduce bruising if this occurs. Swelling can take two weeks to reduce completely, and this is normal. More serious side effects include blood vessel occlusion which occurs when filler blocks a vessel, however as I am a trained to deal with complications if this occurs I have the dissolving agent Hyaluronidase in my emergency kit and can reverse this complication.
